S.A.F.E.T.Y.: Shooting Archery Field Excellency Trials for Youth. Each spring and fall, more than 125 middle and high school students from north and central Texas participate in Dallas Safari Club’s S.A.F.E.T.Y. Extravaganza at Greystone Castle Sporting Club near Mingus, Texas.
The students are among 11,000 who complete the DEF's Outdoor Adventures elective course each year as part of their physical education classes at area schools, learning angling, conservation, backpacking, outdoor cooking, CPR and first aid, hunter and boater safety, and orienteering.
At the S.A.F.E.T.Y. event, students and their parents participate in a day of safety and shooting instruction, from rifles to archery, and compete in a field exercise trial in which students apply what they learned in the classroom.
The S.A.F.E.T.Y. Extravaganza is just one more way Dallas Safari Club fulfills its mission to promote outdoor education.
