Don't Miss 2018 DSC Convention Award Presentations and Entertainment

(Nov. 29, 2017 – DALLAS) Outdoorsmen and women planning to attend the 2018 DSC Convention, Legacy, Jan.4-7 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and Omni Hotel Dallas in Downtown Dallas, are in for a treat with this year’s impressive entertainment and inspiring awards ceremonies.

Singer/songwriter Kylie Rae Harris, a Wylie, Texas native, will entertain the crowd with her brand of Americana and country music on the Zeiss stage. An award-winning musician, Harris was cast in the docu-reality series Troubadour TX and was signed to a record label out of Nashville after gaining notoriety on the show. She has been compared to artists Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow, and has had songs placed on major network television shows. Harris is currently working on her third release, due out in 2018.

In addition to Harris, the Zeiss Stage will again host outdoor legends Craig Boddington, Jim Shockey, Ron Spomer, Jim Zumbo, Larry Weishuhn, Blake Barnett and others as they tell tales from hunt camp. Also featured will be the indescribably fun 3rd annual Professional Hunters’ Cup and a special panel of game wardens, who are the boots on the ground in Operation Game Thief, talking about poaching and other dumb things wildlife criminals do. The winner of the 2018 Extreme Huntress™ competition will also make an appearance on the Zeiss Stage.

Make plans to watch respected hunter and award-winning author Craig Boddington receive the Weatherby Foundation International Hunting and Conservation Award. Recognized as the world’s most prestigious and desired hunting award, the Weatherby Foundation International Hunting and Conservation Award is based on three categories: Hunting Accomplishments, Conservation and Education, and Character and Sportsmanship. Boddington embodies the spirit of this award as a leading voice for conservation and ethical hunting around the world. The event will be held at the Omni Hotel on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Cocktails and the silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner and live auction will begin at 7 p.m. This year’s banquet is casual dress.

The Conklin Award, created to recognize a superb hunter and stalwart conservationist in memory of James E. Conklin, will be presented to Alexander Egorov at the Omni Hotel Ballroom on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 6 to 10 p.m.

The Ladies’ Luncheon & Auction will be held at the Omni Hotel in the Trinity Ballroom on Jan. 5 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Attendees will fellowship with like-minded women and find out who will be the 2018 Extreme Huntress™.

The Life Member Breakfast & Auction will be held Saturday, Jan. 6 from 8-10 a.m. in the Omni Hotel Trinity Ballroom. A special speaker will be announced soon.

The family-friendly 2018 DSC Expo is open to the public and will fill a record 800,000 square feet with 1,000 exhibitors and 1,800 booths featuring outfitted hunts, guns, gear and much more. Plan on more than one day to see it all!
