The Deadliest Game

Which animal do you think takes the title of Deadliest Game so far in 2017? Leopard? Buffalo? Maybe the hyena with its bone-crushing jaws?

As it turns out, there are several factors under consideration in Zimbabwe.

For human fatalities, crocodiles were the number one culprit, responsible for 16 out of the total 23 deaths, and elephants came in next with five human fatalities.

For livestock losses, lions were responsible for 91 out of 109 cattle fatalities and 46 out of 95 goat fatalities. Hyenas were the next biggest livestock threat, taking 11 cattle and 28 goat victims.

Leopards, however, caused the most injuries on humans with 7 out of 22 documented nonfatal injury cases.

As for the total 243 documented Human-Wildlife Conflict cases, lions were the cause of 59, then hippos, elephants, crocodiles and buffalo with 44, 41, 37 and 35 cases respectively.

Now that you have seen the numbers, which animal do you think gets the title?
