Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's Supports DSC as Diamond Level Sponsor

Pictured above: Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium (WOW) in Springfield, Missouri, was voted by TODAY readers as the No.1 best new attraction in the country and has WOW’ed families and guests since it opened last fall.
With appreciation, DSC, along with Sports Afield, recognizes Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s as a Diamond level sponsor for the 2019 Convention, Mogambo: Dagga Boy Danger. Through Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s support, DSC will be able to produce a phenomenal convention, hosting tens of thousands of hunters and continuing its mission of conservation, education and advocacy.
Johnny L. Morris, founder and CEO of Bass Pro Shops, got his start in 1972 by selling fishing tackle out of the back of his father’s store. Since then, Morris has earned a reputation as one of the most visionary and influential retailers.
From an early age, Morris understood how fishing and hunting fostered a special respect and appreciation for nature and wildlife. At age 21, Morris fell in love with the emerging sport of bass fishing and spent five years on the professional circuit. After noticing growing interest in the sport, Morris started Bass Pro Shops with eight square feet of space in the back of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri- the company’s sole location for the first 13 years of business. Morris’s passion for the outdoors and his feel for the products and shopping experiences desired by outdoor enthusiasts helped transform the industry.
In conservation circles, Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris is often referred to as a modern-day Teddy Roosevelt for his leadership, personal commitment and dedication to conservation efforts. Morris recognizes the need for citizens to take a strong position in the careful management and use of our natural resources. Using his entrepreneurial success as a platform for that cause, he has contributed heavily both in time and resources to many significant conservation organizations and initiatives. Today he leads the way to ensure that natural habitats, wildlife and the outdoors remain healthy and abundant for future generations to protect and enjoy, building national initiatives and extensive partnerships with many conservation organizations.
In September 2017, Morris completed ambitious plans for the next exciting chapter in Bass Pro Shops’ history. By uniting with Cabela’s, two iconic American outdoor companies with similar humble origins and a shared goal are brought together to better serve those who love the outdoors. Founded in 1961 by Dick, Mary and Jim Cabela, Cabela’s is a highly respected marketer of hunting, fishing, camping, shooting sports and related outdoor merchandise with locations across North America. Over the past 55 years, Cabela’s has built a passionate and loyal base of millions of enthusiasts who shop both at its retail stores and online. Visit www.cabelas.com.
