John Rigby & Co. takes Corbett tour to Dallas Safari Club

London gunmaker John Rigby & Co. is set to continue its world tour of Jim Corbett paraphernalia at next month’s Dallas Safari Club convention, taking place 7-10 January 2016 in Texas.

Screen Shot 2015-12-14 at 11.55.40 AMThe cult rifle brand recently acquired Corbett’s .275 Rigby bolt-action rifle that was presented to him for killing the dreaded ‘man-eating tigress of Champawat’ in 1907. Corbett went on to use the gun in India to dispatch a number of man-eating big cats, blamed for the deaths of hundreds of people which he chronicled in his best-selling memoirs.

To commemorate the acquisition John Rigby & Co. has produced a stunning leather-bound, five-book set of Corbett’s writings. The collection includes the autobiographical ‘Jungle Lore’, and perhaps his most famous book – ‘Man-Eaters of Kumaon’. The stories offer insight into the exotic flora, fauna, and village life in this obscure and treacherous region of India, making it as interesting a travelogue as it is a compelling look at a bygone era of big-game hunting. Produced by Safari Press, the highly collectable hardbacks are limited to just 275 sets and are individually numbered. Priced at £299 per set, a proportion of the profits will be donated to The Jim Corbett National Park in India.

Rigby’s Managing Director, Marc Newton will also be giving a free-to-attend talk on Corbett on the Saturday at 11am on the Zeiss stage. “The Corbett gun is a real piece of Rigby history. It’s fantastic to have it back with the firm and we’d encourage as many people as possible to come and see it for themselves.”
