Junior Duck Stamp Winner Named

Nicole Jeon’s acrylic painting of a harlequin duck took first place in the 2019 National Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest. This 16-year-old’s work will don the 2019-2020 Junior Duck Stamp, which raises funds to support educational programs and activities that nurture our next generation of sportsmen and women and conservationists.

Jasmine Kang’s wood duck painting took second place and a long-tailed duck work by Paige Collins took third.

This contest is a great way to encourage both interest in wildlife conservation and creative expression in children and young adults.

In addition to the art contest, creative minds also explored conservation ideas through the Message Contest. This year’s winning phrase comes from Haley Chandler, 18, of Vilonia, Arkansas, who wrote: Environment is our foundation, wildlife is our inspiration, conservation is our aspiration.

Their creativity inspires not only their peers, but also the entire community as their art and words are seen across the nation over the course of the season.

You can buy Junior Duck Stamps online through the U.S. Postal Service and Amplex and at some national wildlife refuges. The First Day of Sale ceremony for the 2019-2020 Duck Stamp and Junior Duck Stamp will be held June 28, 2019, at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Missouri.
