I guess I should have been a bit more cautious with my excitement and optimism in last month’s article, instead of touting my anxious anticipation over gathering in person for the Big Bore Shoot. In the Dallas area, it rained 19 out of the 31 days in May, with June off to a similar start. Unfortunately, we’ve been blessed with so much rain that the range has been underwater, and we’ve been forced to cancel- twice. True to the analogy, when it rains, it pours (literally)!
But as a rancher’s daughter, I never let a little rain dampen my spirits. I know that this abundance of rain now will mean more than adequate forage for species in the future. I’m already looking forward to an awesome whitetail deer season in the fall!
It also means that the upcoming DSC Foundation Gala on June 12 will be even more impactful. It is certain to be a great time supporting our partner in conservation. As preparations are taking shape in many departments at the DSC office, I can’t help but feel that we are headed towards DSC’s greatest convention and an amazing 40th-anniversary celebration. I look forward to this gathering of new and old friends every year, but we have all been excited for this next one. So mark your calendars and make plans to join us in Dallas on January 6-9, 2022. Information on hotel and banquet registration will be announced soon. It’s going to be one for the record books, and you are not going to want to miss it!
