President's Message: March

 A New Season Begins

Hooray! We’ve made it to spring and all that it holds—turkey season, fishing trips, and the start of the African hunting season. It also means a new season at DSC, headlined by our annual general meeting earlier this month. Many thanks to all of you that voted electronically or participated via zoom. We need you to be part of the process, and we appreciate you taking time to participate.

Congratulations to our newly elected directors Russell Stacy, Trevor Klein, and Ray Mulholland. I look forward to seeing all you are going to accomplish to better our organization.

I’m excited to announce that the bylaws referendum also passed. The newly created membership will allow DSC to expand its reach to previously untouched levels. The increased ability to communicate and engage with new folks who share our passions will elevate our message and expand our reach in advocacy campaigns and calls to action. It will help DSC be better armed in the battles that rage against our core beliefs and values.

As this season ends, I’d like to give a special shout out to the DSC staff! As a membership organization, this incredibly talented and dedicated group of individuals are your greatest resource.  While they may be small in number, they are mighty in what they accomplish on a daily basis, and I am proud to have them on our side.

As I transition into the role of past president, I do so with a grateful heart. This year of service has been an incredible honor. I look forward to continuing to volunteer my time and give back to the organization that has given me so much. As the past presidents that came before me did, I stand ready and willing to assist the newly elected president, Michael Vernone, with the utmost confidence. Congratulations to the other recently elected officers: President-elect Tim Fallon, Secretary Kyle Allison, and Treasurer Daniel McGehee. I know you are going to do great things!

My sincerest “thank you” to each of you for the role you have in DSC—member, volunteer, exhibitor, donor—and for your support throughout the past year, even during some tumultuous times. DSC would not exist without each of you. I look forward to seeing you out on the trail or perhaps around a campfire. Until then, wishing you safe, but adventurous travels, limited only by your dreams. Thank you for the adventure of a lifetime to serve as your president!
