DSC congratulates Greg Sheehan as well as Secy. of Interior Ryan Zinke on Sheehan’s appointment as Deputy Director of the USFWS. Sheehan is a lifelong hunter, angler, and aspiring wildlife photographer. Sheehan will begin in mid-June and will serve as the Acting Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service until a Director is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate.
DSC believes that the creation of a Deputy Director is a wise step. With the threat of trophy import bans still hanging in the balance, it is important for the current Administration to take up these issues affecting hunters worldwide to protect both hunters’ rights and the hunting industry that channels much-needed dollars into international conservation and anti-poaching efforts.
