Bringing years of combat medic service in the U.S. Army, Caleb Causey will share his emergency medicine expertise at the “Field Medicine for Hunters” seminar during the DSC 2017 Convention and Expo in Dallas. The seminar is one of many informative sessions featuring hunting and conservation experts held throughout the four-day event. Attendees can join any of the hour-long seminars free of charge.
Causey’s extensive experience also includes working as a volunteer firefighter/EMT, tactical medic with SWAT, rescue diver and private security. Causey is certified for American Heart Association’s BLS Instructor, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Heartsaver Instructor and Emergency Medical Services Instructor for the state of Texas.
During this seminar, attendees will be presented with basic subjects and skills that will help ensure not only that they have a 
successful hunt but also survive if injuries are sustained. Some of the subjects discussed will be medical contingencies and planning, choosing the right medical equipment and how to identify and treat immediate life-threatening injuries related to hunting. If time allows, the audience can participate in hands-on skills practical.
“More and more hunters have realized that they need to be prepared and are searching for practical training. This is evident as the number of hunters attending this seminar has grown each year,” said Causey. “Anytime you are hunting or doing anything in the outdoors, there’s an inherent risk involved. It’s not a matter of if it will happen, but a matter of when it is going to happen. When it does, are you going to panic or execute your plan?”
The DSC Convention and Expo will be at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and Omni Hotel in Dallas Jan. 5-8, 2017. Causey will host two seminars: Friday, Jan. 6 at 3:30-4:30 p.m. in room D223 and Saturday, Jan. 7 at 12:30-1:30 p.m. in room D221.

Daily admission to the convention is $20 per person, with multi-day and discounted family packages available. Children under 12 and active military (with ID) are free of charge.
